Every Saturday was dedicated to exploring different parts of Iloilo. These city tours provided a comprehensive overview of the province's history, architecture, and natural beauty.
9 November 2024: Iloilo City Center – A Tapestry of History and Modernity
My first city tour took me to the heart of Iloilo City. We visited a fascinating array of historical and cultural landmarks, including Museo Iloilo, offering a glimpse into the region's past, and the National Museum of the Philippines, showcasing the country's rich heritage. We also explored the impressive Iloilo Provincial Capitol, a testament to the province's governance, and delved into specific aspects of Filipino history at the Museum of Philippine Maritime History and the Museum of Philippine Economic History. The vibrant Plaza Libertad, the beautiful San Jose Placer Church, and the imposing Iloilo City Hall provided further insights into the city's character. A touch of romance awaited at the Iloilo City Garden of Love, while the majestic Molo Church and the elegant Molo Mansion showcased the city's architectural grandeur. We then ventured to the Villa Arevalo District Plaza, experiencing local life, and enjoyed the modern amenities of Festive Walk Mall. A dose of contemporary art awaited at the Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Arts, and finally, we admired the historical Jaro Church and the surrounding Jaro Plaza. This comprehensive tour truly captured the diverse facets of Iloilo City.
16 November 2024: Southern Iloilo – Faith, Heritage, and Nature
This tour took me south, exploring the coastal towns and their unique attractions. The magnificent Miagao Church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was a highlight, showcasing stunning architecture and rich history. We also visited the Baraclayan Weaving Center, witnessing the intricate artistry of local weavers and learning about their traditional crafts. The serene San Joaquin Campo Santo, a historic cemetery with unique architecture, provided a moment for reflection. Finally, we enjoyed the natural beauty and diverse attractions of Garin Farm, a popular agritourism destination.
24 November 2024: Northern Iloilo – Beaches, Farms, and Eco-Parks
My northern Iloilo adventure showcased the region's natural wonders and eco-tourism initiatives. We relaxed on the beautiful Alvarez Beach in Carles, enjoying the sun and the sea. A visit to the Terra Verde Heritage Farm in Ajuy provided insights into sustainable agriculture and local farming practices. Finally, we explored the Pedada Mangrove Integrated Eco-Park, learning about the importance of mangrove ecosystems and enjoying the tranquility of nature.
Cultural Activities: Connecting with Local Traditions
Sundays were dedicated to experiencing Iloilo's vibrant culture through interactions with local personalities and visits to significant cultural venues.

- 17 November 2024: Casa Nena Hotel and Resort with Ma’am Jureca: My visit to Casa Nena Hotel and Resort with Ma’am Jureca was another memorable cultural experience. The resort itself showcased local architecture and design, while Ma’am Jureca shared her insights into Iloilo's history and culture. These personal interactions added depth and meaning to my understanding of the region.

25-26 November 2024: Miagao Tourism Information Center – Municipality of Miagao: My two-day visit to the Miagao Tourism Information Center was a valuable opportunity to learn more about the municipality's tourism initiatives. I gained insights into the local attractions, cultural heritage, and efforts to promote sustainable tourism. This experience provided a deeper understanding of the region's tourism industry and its importance to the local community.
